A night after taking the lead atop the York-Adams American Legion East Divison standings, the boys from Pleasureville Post 799 padded their advantage in the midst of a playoff run.

Starting pitcher Josh Marquard helped himself earn the victory with his bat. Marquard ripped a line-drive single to center that drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh, helping Post 799 claim a 2-1 walk-off triumph over visiting Stewartstown.

"The young kid came through," Pleasureville manager Elliot Ness said.

Not even a high schooler at Central York yet, Marquard demonstrated poise throughout. The right-hander surrendered seven hits, but allowed just one run while fanning eight in the complete game.

That wasn't all, however. He stroked a pair of singles while drawing a walk in three plate appearances.

Post 799 (8-1-1) managed just five hits, but took the early lead when Ryan Pepler scored on an error. Stewartstown (7-3) tied it up in the top of the sixth on a double by Garett Meckley.

The visitors got a two-out single in the seventh by Caleb Petrowicz, but he was thrown out at second trying to stretch it into a double.

Pleasureville also won at Stewartstown on Tuesday, 7-6, to move into first.
