The Northeastern team is now 2 for 2 at the Eastern Regional 8-10 Little League Tournament in Cranston, Rhode Island.
The Pennsylvania state champions earned a 4-2 triumph over Fruitland Little League from Maryland on Monday, Aug. 7, in its second game of the tournament.
The York County outfit captured an 8-4 triumph over Newark National, from Delaware, on Saturday, Aug. 5, in its regional opener. Northeastern is 17-1 overall.
Ryley Nade-Bishop got the win for Northeastern vs. the Maryland team, pitching 5 2/3 innings and allowing three hits and zero earned runs. He struck out two and walked one.
Brandon Charleston needed just three pitches to get the final out and earn the save.
Northeastern jumped out to an early lead by scoring two runs in the second, sparked by Drew Barshinger's RBI single. The Maryland team, however, evened things up with two unearned runs in the third. The York County team took the lead for good with two more runs in the fifth on a two-run single by Brandt Johnson.
In addition to his pitching exploits, Nade-Bishop finished two hits and a run scored for Northeastern.
The York County team's next game is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, against New Jersey champion Elmora. The hard-hitting New Jersey team is also 2-0 in the Eastern Regional, earning 10-9 and 18-8 victories.
