Central York High School graduate Dan Sepic is enjoying an all-star summer.
The 6-foot, 3-inch, 215-pound Sepic is the third baseman for the Richmond Jazz and was recently selected to play in the 2017 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate All-Star Game Prospect Showcase at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio. The game is set for Tuesday.
Sepic is leading the league with 13 doubles and is second on his team with three home runs and 24 RBIs. He has a .298 average. His team is in a first-place tie with the Cincinnati Steam.
The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League is entering its 30th season. It's a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league boasts several players who have earned service time in the major leagues.
Sepic is entering his senior season at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His IUP team recently earned the Top Team Grade Point Average Award in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The baseball team had an overall GPA of 3.33, with Sepic joining two of his teammates with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Sepic is expected to graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in hospital management/sports management.
Sepic was named the inaugural Owen J. Dougherty Player of the Year for IUP baseball this past season. He hit .313 with eight homers and 25 RBIs for the Crimson Hawks.
