AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: Northeastern continues strong start with easy win


The Northeastern American Legion baseball team continued its strong start to the 2017 season on Wednesday evening.

Northeastern cruised to an 11-1, five-inning triumph over Shiloh to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Ken Kopp got the complete-game win on the mound for Northeastern, allowing three hits and zero earned runs. He struck out four and walked two.

Robby Clipp (two hits, double, three RBIs, two runs), Wade Wolfgang (three hits, two runs, RBI), Robby Elzinga (two hits, two runs), Kyle O'Keefe (hit, two walks, three RBIs) and Brady Dolan (hits, three walks, two runs) paced Northeastern's offense.

Northeastern took advantage of 11 Hanover walks.

Red Lion 9, Hanover 1:At Red Lion, Conner Dewees led the home team by going 3 for 4, including a triple, with two RBIs and one run scored. Also for Red Lion, Tyler Stabley went 2 for 3, including a double, with two RBIs and two runs scored; Evan Paules and C.J. Czerwinski each went 2 for 3 with one run scored; and starting pitcher Denny Dennison threw five shutout innings, striking out three, walking none and allowing four hits.
