AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: Northeastern edges Stewartstown to improve to 5-1

  • Northeastern slipped past Stewartstown on Monday in Legion baseball action, 6-5.
  • Northeastern bounced back from its first loss of the season and improved to 5-1.

Northeastern bounced back from its first York-Adams American Legion baseball loss of the season with a 6-5 win over Stewartstown in Manchester on Monday.

Northeastern improved to 5-1 on the season, with its only loss coming 5-0 to Pleasureville on Friday.


Ken Kopp (two hits, RBI, run), Ryan Shindler (two RBIs), Robby Clipp (two hits, triple, run) and Jonah Latshaw (hit, RBI, two runs) paced the Northeastern offense.

Garrett Lowe (two hits, run), T.J. Grimsley (two runs), Mike Lizzi (two RBIs), Matt Moscynski (two hits, RBI) and Blaine Philips (two hits, RBI) led Stewartstown.



Shiloh 13, Glen Rock 9:At Glen Rock, the visitors exploded for nine runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead and go on to capture the victory. Marcus Hill led the visitors by going 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Also for Shiloh, Anthony Kahley went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and one run scored; Jacob Mease went 2 for 3, including a double, with one run scored; and Trent Ketterman doubled. For Glen Rock, Chase Summers went 3 for 3 with three runs scored and one RBI; Steve Fuller went 2 for 3, including a double, with two RBIs and one run scored; Alec Kramer went 2 for 3 with one RBI; and Ben Trego went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Red Lion 6, New Oxford 2:At New Oxford, Adam Naylor led the visitors by going 3 for 4 at the plate, including a double, with one run scored and one RBI. He also started the game on the mound and threw six innings, allowing only three singles and no earned runs. Also for Red Lion, Tyler Stabley went 2 for 4, including a double, with two RBIs, while Cole Daugherty doubled.

Suburban York 6, Bermudian Springs 1:At York Springs, Carson Holsinger led the visitors by starting the game on the mound and throwing 6 1/3 innings, striking out nine, walking four, allowing four hits and no earned runs. Also for Suburban, Adam Petersen went 2 for 3 with one run scored, while Jacob Taylor doubled.

South Western 16, York 4:At Small Athletic Field, Alex Klingler had three runs scored, while teammate Trevor Bean knocked in two runs for South Western. For York, Lewis Diaz went 2 for 3, including two stolen bases, with one run scored and one RBI.

Gettysburg 8, Dover 3: At Dover, the home team collected just five singles in the loss to Gettysburg. Toby Goebler and Wyatt Barton had RBIs for Dover. Barton also scored run.
