LEGION BASEBALL: Pleasureville, Northeastern earn wins to improve to 4-0 on season
The Pleasureville and Northeastern York-Adams American Legion baseball teams each improved to 4-0 on the season with victories on Wednesday.
Landon Ness, Brandon Walters and Colin Parks combined to throw a complete-game, one-hit shutout to lead Pleasureville over visiting Gettysburg, 4-0.
The battery also combined to strike out 13, while walking seven. Ben Reed led the home team at the plate by going 2 for 3, including a double, with two RBIs and one run scored. Also for the winners, Nick Myers went 2 for 3 with one run scored, while Michael Nzinski went 1 for 2 with one RBI.
Northeastern, meanwhile, beat Suburban York 4-2. Ken Kopp threw the final 3 1/3 innings, striking out eight, walking one, allowing no runs and just three hits to pick up the win. Kopp also went 2 for 3 at the plate, including a triple, with one run scored.
Also for Northeastern, Wade Wolfgang went 2 for 3 with one run scored and one RBI, while Brady Dolan went 1 for 2 with two RBIs. For Suburban York, Max Reinecker went 2 for 3, including a double, with one run scored.
Dover also wins: In other Legion action, Dover jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning and went on to capture an 11-5 victory over Southwestern in Hanover.
Toby Goebler led the visitors by going 2 for 4, with three runs scored and one RBI. Also for Dover, Joe Morrett went 2 for 5 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Brayden Smith went 1 for 2 with one RBI.
