Eight Y-A baseball teams headed to District 3 playoffs


The York-Adams League will send eight teams to the District 3 playoffs, including three squads which are seeded No. 2 in their respective classes.

District action starts Monday. This is the first year that baseball will feature six classifications.

6-A: Newly-crowned York-Adams champion Dallastown (17-4) grabbed the No. 2 seed in the 10-team Class 6-A field. The Wildcats, who have won 14 consecutive games, will get a first-round bye. In a quarterfinal game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, the 'Cats will play host to the winner of Monday's game between No. 10 Manheim Twp. (11-9) and No. 7 Cumberland Valley (13-7). Red Lion is seeded No. 9 in 6-A. In Monday's first round, the Lions (14-6) will travel to No. 8 Central Dauphin (12-7) at 4:30 p.m. The top three 6-A teams will advance to the PIAA playoffs.

5-A: The only Y-A team to make the 14-team 5-A field is Division II co-champion Gettysburg (14-7), which is seeded No. 14. The Warriors travel to No. 3 Cedar Cliff (15-5) at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The top four 5-A teams advance to states.

4-A: In the 10-team 4-A bracket, Division III co-champion Susquehannock (16-5) earned the No. 2 seed and will get a first-round bye. In a quarterfinal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, the Warriors will play host to the winner of Monday's game between No. 10 West York (10-10) and No. 7 ELCO (15-5). That game is at 4:30 p.m. at ELCO. West York is the Division II co-champion. Division III co-champion Kennard-Dale (15-3) grabbed the No. 6 seed in 4-A and also gets a first-round bye. In a quarterfinal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, the Rams will travel to No. 3 seed Berks Catholic (14-2), which also received a first-round bye. The top three 4-A teams advance to states.

3-A: In the six-team 3-A field, Biglerville (10-9) grabbed the No. 5 seed. In the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Biglerville travels to No. 4 Susquenita (12-7). The top two 3-A teams will earn PIAA berths.

2-A: Division IV champion York Catholic captured the No. 2 seed in the four-team 2-A class. In the semifinals at 4 p.m. Monday, the Fighting Irish (10-8) will meet No. 3 seed Kutztown (11-9) at Wenger Field in Fredericksburg. Only the 2-A champ will make states.

1-A: Finally, in 1-A, Christian School of York (11-4) made the six-team field and will play host to No. 6 Conestoga Christian (5-7) at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the quarterfinals. The top two teams will make the PIAA playoffs.
