LOCAL BASEBALL: Dallastown Legion team stays alive

The Dallastown American Legion baseball team stayed alive in the double-elimination Region 4 Tournament on Sunday with an 11-8 triumph over the host team, Fayetteville, in an elimination game.
Dallastown exploded for 13 hits, but was also helped by nine Fayetteville errors and eight walks allowed by Fayetteville pitchers.
Dallastown is now 15-5-1 overall and 1-1 in Region 4 action after a 5-1 loss to Ephrata in the opening round on Saturday. Fayetteville's season ends at 8-11.
Riley Hamberger got the win, allowing five runs on 11 hits, while striking out six and walking two.
Fayetteville scored three times in the top of the first but Dallastown answered with five runs of its own in the bottom half. Fayetteville would tie the game 5-5 but Dallastown would take the lead for good after scoring twice in the fifth.
With the win, Dallastown moves on to another elimination game at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Greene Township Park vs. Lawnton, which fell to Carlisle on Sunday, 8-6.
Dillsburg 9, Dover 2: At Dillsburg, Rodney Copenhaver pitched a complete-game seven-hitter to get the victory. He struck out five and walked three. Jeremy Gilbert had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI to lead the winners. Dover's Ross Drawbaugh had three hits, including a double.
