LOCAL BASEBALL: Northeastern now 8-0 in Legion action

First-place Northeastern remained unbeaten in York-Adams American Legion baseball action on Monday with a 2-0 triumph at Stewartstown.
Kenny Kopp led the visitors by throwing a five-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking two. He also contributed at the plate, going 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Also for Northeastern, Robby Elzinga went 2 for 2 with a triple, Brady Dolan went 2 for 3 with one RBI and Stevie Miller went 2 for 3.
For Stewartstown, Ben Lowe went 2 for 3, while starting pitcher Josh Bakalyar threw six innings, striking out three and walking none.
Northeastern improved to 8-0.
Gettysburg 9, Dover 8: At Gettysburg, Logan Carbaugh led home team with a double and three RBIs. Carbaugh also picked up the win on the mound in relief, throwing 3 1/3 scroreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out four, while walking one. Teammate Ethan Ketterman went 3 for 4.
East Prospect 11, York Township 1 (6 innings): At East Prospect, the home team plated six runs in the top of the first to take command early. Tanner Forry led the home team by belting a homer, driving in four runs and scoring two runs. Also for Prospect, Ryky Smith went 2 for 4, including a double, with two RBIs; Ryan Saxman went 2 for 3; Matt Shatto doubled with two RBIs; and starting pitcher Sean Rigney threw five innings, allowing three hits and one run to pick up the win. For Township, Austin Martinez went 3 for 3, including a double, while Tyler Page doubled.
