Spring Grove plated four unanswered runs (two in the fifth, two in the sixth) to break the 2-2 tie en route to a 6-2 victory over visiting Red Lion on Wednesday evening in York-Adams American Legion baseball action.
Ty Maughlin led the home team with three hits and two walks. Teammate Logan Miller had two RBIs and started the game on the mound, throwing five innings, striking out three, en route to the victory.
Spring Grove improved to 3-1. Red Lion fell to 3-2.
Stewartstown 10, York City 5: At Stewartstown, the home team trailed 5-4 going into the bottom of the sixth, when it plated six runs to take the lead for good. Starting pitcher Josh Bakalyer threw six innings, striking out nine. Also for Stewartstown, Brady Reuter and Joey Thomas each picked up two RBIs. For York City, Christian Morales started the game on the mound, throwing five innings, striking out eight.
Dallastown 12, Shiloh 3: At Shiloh, the visitors rolled to victory. Dallastown improved to 3-1, while Shiloh fell to 2-2. Avery Strayer got the win on the mound. Joe Munoz homered for the winners, while Nick Parker belted two doubles. Cody Somerville and Riley Hamberger also doubled for Dallastown. Colton Kubicki doubled for Shiloh.
Pleasureville 4, Gettysburg 4 (8 innings, tie): At Gettysburg, after eight innings of play neither team was able to plate the go-ahead run and the game ended in a draw. Joe Kroeger led Pleasureville, going 2 for 2, including a double. Teammate Michael Davis threw two-plus innings of scoreless relief, striking out five and walking none.
Southwestern 8, Dover 4: At Dover, the visitors plated three runs in the first and fourth innings to power their way to the victory. James Harris led the visitors with three hits.
