LOCAL BASEBALL: Dallastown's Jake Gates hurls no-hitter

Jake Gates threw a five-inning no-hitter to lead Dallastown to a 10-0 York-Adams American Legion baseball triumph over visiting Suburban York on Wednesday.
Gates struck out 12 and walked six to complete the feat.
Dallastown's offensive leaders were Riley Hamberger (two doubles, two RBIs), Tye Golden (2 for 2, two runs scored), Regis Maher (two-run triple) and Eric Morrison (2 for 2, two stolen bases, two runs scored).
On Tuesday, Dallastown beat visiting New Oxford, 3-2. on Cody Somerville's walk-off RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Hamberger had two hits in that game, including a double, to go with two RBIs and a run scored, while Golden also had two hits. Bryant Holtzapple doubled for Dallastown. Zach Ness picked up the win on the mound, pitching 3 2/3 innings of relief without giving up any earned runs. He surrendered just three hits.
Northeastern 10, Hanover 3: At Hanover, Jonah Latshaw led the visitors to the victory by belting two doubles. Also for Northeastern, Brayton Bare, Hayden Seifert and Ryan Shindler each added two hits, while Devin Blymire threw a complete game on the mound, striking out six and walking three.
Pleasureville 1, Red Lion 0: At Pleasureville, Brendan Martyn and Mike Davis combined on a four-hit shutout. Martyn pitched the first six innings, striking out four and walking one. Davis pitched the final inning to get the win. Joe Kroeger's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh provided the game's only run. Erik Paules had two hits for Red Lion. Zach Townsend pitched six shutout innings for Red Lion, allowing four hits, while striking out six and walking three.
South Western 8, Stewartstown 1: At Stewartstown, the visitors took advantage of five errors by Stewartstown to roll to the win. South Western outhit Stewartstown, 7-5.
