Cool is hottest bowler at York-Adams USBC Open Championship

Dean Cool Jr. turned in an impressive performance at the 81st York-Adams United States Bowling Congress Open Championship held at Rockwell Lanes in Gettysburg.

Cool was a member of the Edgewood Lanes squad that won the handicap team title with 2,942 pins. Other members of the championship team included Andrew Martin, Randy Peck and Gary Nodine. Rockwell Lanes placed second with 2,923 pins, while Daddy's Girls took third with 2,832 pins.

Cool teamed up with Andrew Martin to capture the handicap doubles with 1,514 pins. The Ortanna duo finished 12 pins ahead of Gettysburg's Paris McGee and Nathan Weaver. The Hanover combo of Julie Miller and Don Bechtel garnered third place with 1,498 pins.

In handicap singles, Cool set the pace with an 831 set. He was followed by Shawn Hager Jr. at 811 and Robert Runk at 779. Both are from Gettysburg.

Cool led the handicap all-event category with 2,304 pins. Hager took second place with 2,302, while Steve Firestone Sr. of Etters captured third with 2,247 pins.

The tournament attracted 92 singles, 44 doubles, 15 teams and 51 all-events competitors. For complete results, visit www.yausbc.com.
