Springfield runner wins York Marathon; Dillsburg man is top York County finisher

Collin Wainwright, of Springfield in Delaware County, won the York Marathon on Sunday.

Collin Wainwright won the York Marathon on Sunday in 2 hours, 36 minutes, 31.1 seconds.

Wainwright, a 25 year old from Springfield in Delaware County, bested a field of 152 runners.

The event is sponsored by the York Branch YMCA and serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier.

The race began at the York Branch YMCA at 90 N. Newberry St. and ended at Lafayette Plaza. The flat course began on city streets and transitioned to the York County Heritage Rail Trail for the remainder of the race.

Hung Tran of Silver Spring, Maryland, took second in 2:40:16.4, followed by Tristin DeVincenzo of Port Jefferson, New York, in 2:55:51.5.

York County runners put up record-breaking times in Saturday cross country action

The top York County runner was Dillsburg's Christopher Kuhl, who took sixth in 2:57:20.7.

Other York County male runners with top-40 overall finishes were: York's Joe Freed, 14th in 3:17:54.1; York's Roberto Rivera-Vazquez, 17th in 3:20:52.6; Hanover's Steven Storm, 20th in 3:22:43.2; Hanover's Daniel Arter, 23rd in 3:25:57.3; and Stewartstown's Todd Gibney, 40th in 3:39:08.9. 

The winner of the women's race was Pittsburgh's Michelle Dragun in 3:17:35.8. Columbia's Mackenzie Nolan was second in 3:29:08.8, followed by Elizabeth Dodds of Silver Spring, Maryland, in 3:29:48.5.

The top York County female finisher was York's Courtney Kline, who took fifth among the women in 3:41:21.5. York's Kelly McKinley was seventh among the women in 3:45:44.3, while York's Amy Sipe was 12th among the women in 3:58:20.4. Other York County runners to place among the top 20 women were: York's Lauren Rooney, 13th in 4:01:40.2; Felton's Audrie Olson, 17th in 4:15:14.3; and Wrightsville's Jacqueline Evans, 20th in 4:19:39.3.

A half-marathon race was also held in conjunction with the marathon.

Nina Zarina of Arlington, Virginia, won the half marathon in 1:17:50.4 in a 109-runner field. Jennifer Paul of Washington, D.C., was second overall in 1:21:31.4.

The first male finisher in the half marathon was Lancaster's Eric Denlinger in 1:21:32.9.

The top York County finisher in the half marathon was Hanover's Kirk Mummert, who was sixth overall in 1:23:04.6.

Other York County runners to finish in the overall top 25 of the half marathon were: York's Sarah Cardone, 18th in 1:34:49.3; York's Danielle Cardone, 19th in 1:37:04.4; York's Nathan Hardman, 21st in 1:39:17.7; York's Joe Blackwood, 23rd in 1:39:45.3; York's Raymond Vogel, 24th in 1:39:52.3; and Seven Valleys' Dave McLaughlin, 25th in 1:40:32.7.
