A number of area residents, led by York’s R. Dennis Lehman, excelled recently at the 82nd Pennsylvania State Skeet Shooting Championships in McConnellstown in Huntingdon County.

The 64-year-old Lehman finished first in the high all-around category in the AA division, hitting 488 of 500 targets.

Lehman was first in the 12-gauge event, going 100 for 100; second in 20-gauge event, going 100 for 100; third in doubles, going 98 of 100; and third in the 28-gauge AA division, going 98 for 100.

Lehman and Dover’s Thomas Hillard were second in the Class 2 two-man team event at 195 of 200. Lehman and Hillard were also second in the Class 1 20-gauge team event at 197 of 200.

In doubles, Hilliard was first in Class B at 95 of 100.

In the 12-gauge event, Abbottstown’s Matthew Sanders was first in the AAA division at 99 of 100. In the 410 event, Sanders was first in the AA division at 98 of 100. Sanders was fourth in the AA class in high overall at 391 of 400.

Also in the 410 event, Dallastown’s John Stough was second in the C division at 95 of 100.

Spring Grove’s Linda Sanders was the state women’s runner-up in the 410 event at 91 of 100.

There were approximately 190 participants in the event.
