York County's Trinity Thomas is competing in the U.S. Gymnastics Championships at the TD Garden in Boston this weekend.

Thomas, 17, is the only competitor from Pennsylvania.

Thomas, who trains at Prestige Gymnastics in Lancaster, is only four months removed from a silver medal in the all-around at the Tokyo World Cup in April. The event was her first World Cup appearance, and her performance secured the United States' spot as the top country on the 2018 women's World Cup circuit.

In her first year as a senior competitor in 2017, Thomas won a team gold medal at the City of Jesolo Trophy, a gold in the uneven bars and a silver in the balance beam at the American Classic and four bronze medals, two at the U.S. Classic and two at the P&G National Championships.

Thomas, who also competed in diving and track in high school for West York, graduated a year early from high school and started classes at the University of Florida in July.

The first day of the women's senior competition on Friday will be on the Olympic Channel from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on delayed tape on NBC SportsNet from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Day 2 of the competition will be broadcast live on NBC Sunday from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles is among the notable U.S. stars expected to compete in the event.
