Local mother-daughter team wins national grass court doubles tennis championship


The York County doubles team of Lisa Bornt-Davis and her mother, Dr. Marsha Bornt, has won another national mother-daughter doubles championship.

Bornt-Davis and Bornt recently won their third gold ball at the United States Tennis Association Super Senior Mother-Daughter National Grass Court Doubles Championship at the Longwood Cricket Club in Boston, Massachusetts.

The local team has now won three mother-daughter national doubles crowns. It's the second straight year the area duo won the national grass court championship. In addition, the local team won the 2017 United States Tennis Association Super Senior Mother-Daughter National Clay Court Doubles Championship in Naples, Florida,

At the most recent grass court event in Massachusetts, the York County team overcame Jenny Mahoney of Barrington, Rhode Island, and Jennifer Ritz, of Westwood, Massachusetts, 6-0, 6-4.

Alison Albers, of Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts, and Barbara Burke, of Bonita Springs, Florida, also lost to the local team, 7-5, 7-6 (3).

Amy Gordon and Nancy Stoller, both from Palm Beach Florida, defaulted to the Yorkers because of illness.
