Rain or shine, girls' softball tournament to be held in York over next several days

Despite the rain, the tournament will go on.

The USA Softball Team Eastern Nationals Class B 14-and-Under Tournament is set for Thursday through Sunday at the Memorial Park Softball Complex, 901 Vander Avenue, York.

Officials from York City are working to make sure the fields will be as dry as possible. Play in the girls' fastpitch event will continue, rain or shine.

Collectively, the softball tournament is expected to bring 525 players and their families to York County and generate more than $1.4 million in economic benefits, according to the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The tournament will include 15 teams from across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic states.
