York County Junior Golf Association players enjoy low-scoring day at Cool Creek

- The York County Junior Golf Association held an event at Cool Creek Golf Club on Monday.
- On the day, 10 golfers shot in the 70s. Mason Tucker shot a 1-under 34 in the Nine-Hole Division.
- Russell McPaul won the Boys' 15-18 Blue Division with a 74.
- Julianne Lee won the 15-18 White Division with a 75, beating a field packed with boys.
It was a eventful and low-scoring Monday for the players on the York County Junior Golf Association Tour at Cool Creek Golf Club.
►Russell McPaul earned his first victory of the season in the Boys' 15-18 Blue Division.
►Julianne Lee beat a field packed with boys in the 15-18 White Division.
►Colin Vineberg had the low 18-hole score of the day en route to winning the Boys' 14-and-Under Division.
►Mason Tucker, at age 11, fired a 1-under 34 in the Nine-Hole Division.
►Taylor Hicks put up a personal best to capture the Girls' 18-and-Under Division.
►And finally, each of the winners of the 18-hole classes shot 78 or better and a total of 10 golfers shot in the 70s at the Wrightsville course.
McPaul won his Boys' 15-18 Blue Division title with a 4-over-par 74. He finished one shot ahead of Michael DeRose and two ahead of Logan Snyder. Jun Lee was fourth at 79.
Julianne Lee, meanwhile, captured the 15-18 White Division with a 75, which was three shots clear of Alex Gekas. Channing Bratton was third at 79. It was Lee's second win of the summer in the White Division
Vineberg took the Boys' 14-and-Under Division with a 73, six shots ahead of second-place Jimmy Hook IV. Trevor Snyder was third at 80. Vineberg has won four of the five 14-and-Under titles this season.
Tucker may have had the most impressive performance of the day by making three birdies in just nine holes to capture the Nine-Hole Division. Alexander Beckley was second at 38, winning a match of cards over Lawson Leeper, who also shot 38. It was Tucker's second win of the summer.
Hicks shot 78 to win Girls' 18-and-Under Division by five shots over second-place Cailey Roman. Lillian McNally was third at 88. It was Hicks' third win this year.
The next YCJGA event is Tuesday, July 24, at Honey Run Golf Club.
