A new event will make its way to the York Expo Center.

We Build You Play will play host to the inaugural Blue Ribbon Brawl in the York Expo Center’s Utz Arena. The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau (YCCVB) is expecting nearly 700 visitors for this two-day tournament.

It's expected to generate a local economic impact of $240,000, according to the YCCVB.

We Build You Play has hosted volleyball tournaments such as the Mid-Atlantic Power League and the Galaxy Showcase at the Expo Center in years past.

The event is set for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24 and 25.

"York County's sports visitors have the highest spending of any visitor type and generate the greatest economic return on investment for our community," said Anne Druck, president of the YCCVB. "Every returning event is a testament to our versatile facilities, exceptional value and convenient location."

Yorktowne set for Keystone Regional: There's another volleyball tournament set for the region this weekend at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center.

The Hershey Harrisburg Sports & Events Authority (HHSE) has announced that several area boys' clubs will compete when the Keystone Regional Volleyball Association (KRVA) plays host to the USA Volleyball-sanctioned 2018 Boys Atlantic Northeastern Tournament (BANE).

The event is set for Friday, Feb. 23, through Sunday, Feb. 25.

KRVA added a third day to this year’s event to accommodate increased demand from elite teams as well as the addition of a new USA Division. There are 201 teams registered for the event, up from 180 in 2017.

Teams in the Open Division (typically travel teams with NCAA Division I-caliber rosters) are competing for bids to the USA Volleyball Junior Boys’ National Championships in Phoenix in July.

Yorktowne Volleyball Club (Hallam), PREVAIL Volleyball Club (Palmyra) and Totally Xtreme Volleyball Club (Hummelstown) will be compete this weekend. The teams are comprised of players representing local high schools including Cumberland Valley, Central Dauphin, Central York, Red Land, Red Lion, Manheim Central, Dallastown, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle and more.

The event is expected to generate a regional economic impact of $1.7 million according to HHSE

“The (Farm Show) is the only place in the region where we can set 30 courts and have all athletes compete under the same roof. It’s an incredible venue and a wonderful opportunity for the teams to be immersed in the action at all times,” KRVA commissioner Michelle Carlton said.
