Spring Grove High graduate Christy Brunner finishes 135th at Spartan World Championships


Spring Grove High School graduate Christy Brunner finished 135th in her division on Saturday during the Spartan Racing World Championships in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Brunner, competing in the Elite Beast Female Division, was competing in a field of 188 runners. She finished the race in 5 hours, 44 minutes, 55 seconds. The winning time was 3:06.10.

Spring Grove High School graduate Christy Brunner will compete in the Spartan World Championship on Saturday, Sept. 30, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Brunner is a 29-year-old physical education teacher at Susquenita High School.

Spartan Racing is a trail run of varying distances featuring numerous obstacles. Brunner's division competed over a course of 12-14 miles with 30-35 obstacles.

It was her first time competing in the event.
