Pleasureville unbeaten after two days of Region 4 American Legion playoff action

Pleasureville is 2-0 after two days of action at the Region 4 American Legion Baseball Tournament in Fredericksburg, Lebanon County.

The York-Adams League regular-season and playoff champion downed Fredericksburg 3-1 on Saturday and followed that up with a 6-2 triumph over Shippensburg on Sunday.

Pleasureville's Michael Livingston got the win on Sunday in Region 4 American Legion baseball playoff action against Shippensburg.

Post 799 will now take on Campbelltown at 7 p.m. Monday in a winners' bracket contest. Campbelltown is also 2-0 after beating Dallastown on Sunday, 10-3. Dallastown had opened the tournament with a 7-4 triumph over New Cumberland on Saturday.

Dallastown will now face host Fredericksburg in an elimination game at noon Monday in the double-elimination regional.

In Sunday's action, Pleasureville rallied from an early deficit to down Shippensburg. Mike Livingston, who earned the save in Saturday’s victory, pitched eight-plus innings to earn the win. Mike Nizinski came up with the game-winning RBI hit in the fifth to put Post 799 ahead for good. Mike Reisinger tacked on a two-run single in the sixth for Pleasureville, which improved to 20-1-1 on the season.

On Saturday, Post 799 was aided greatly by the pitching and hitting of Landon Ness. Ness pitched eight innings to earn the victory, but he also helped himself with a two-run single in the fifth to provide the margin of difference.

Post 605, meanwhile, fell behind 4-0 early on Sunday and couldn’t fully recover against Campbelltown. Dallastown rallied to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the sixth inning, but Post 605 allowed six runs in the ninth inning to fall into the losers' bracket.

Saturday, Dallastown fell behind 4-0 after two innings before storming back with seven unanswered runs — five of which came in the fifth inning — to claim victory. Zach Ness, no relation to Landon, hit a two-run triple in the fifth to put Dallastown ahead for good. And for good measure, Ness allowed just one hit over five innings of relief to earn the victory.

All games played during regional action are nine innings. Legion games during the regular season are seven innings.

The regional tournament runs through Wednesday.
