Brady St. Pierre picked up his first York County Junior Golf Association title of the 2017 season on Monday by winning the Mid-Summer Classic at Out Door Country Club.
St. Pierre and William Gekas both shot 74s, but St. Pierre captured the Blue Division 15-18 boys' title on the first playoff hole. Both Gekas and St. Pierre are Central York High School standouts.
The Mid-Summer Classic is a double-point event in the season-long YCJGA point standings for determining the organization's player of the year and seedings for the season-ending George Barton Match Play.
Karl Frisk, Spencer Beran and Devin Peart each shot 78s, but Frisk took third on a match of cards.
In the White Division 15-18 boys' event, Ryan Menchey also captured his first win of the season with an 81. Darin Wise was second at 82, while Nick Hooper and Jonathan Keagy each fired 83s. Hooper took third on a match of cards.
In the Green Division 14-and-under boys' contest, Trevor Snyder was first at 84, followed by Alex Gekas at 88 and Chase Spahr at 89. It was Snyder's third straight win.
In the Red Division 18-and-under girls' field, Ella Moores was first at 84, followed by Cailey Roman at 88 and Alexandra Lowder at 96. It was Moores' first win of the season.
In the Nine-Hole Tour Division, Taylor Hicks took first at 45, followed by Zachary Wilcox at 47 and Caden Blanchette at 48. It was Hicks' first win of the season.
Newcomer takes senior title at Out Door: Bob Newcomer posted a two-day total of 148 on scores of 77 and 71 to capture the 2017 Out Door Country Club Senior Championship on Sunday.
Steve Hovis recorded a 133 (65-68) to win the net division.
Dan Kelbaugh’s 155 won the gross division in the first flight, while Jack Armstrong and Al Geiman had matching scores of 144 to take net division honors in that flight.
Other winners included: Steve Merrick (second flight, gross, 151), Eric Shelley (second flight, net, 140), Jim Nolt (third flight, gross, 160), Mike Gillig (third flight, net, 144), Bob Miller (fourth flight, gross, 166), George Flinn (fourth flight, net, 148), Blaise Bartucci (fifth flight, gross, 170), Jeff Christiansen (fifth flight, net, 144), Joe Mancuso (sixth flight, gross, 160) and Bob Burris (sixth flight, net, 140).
