Regents' Glen golfer Mescan takes York County Amateur Golf Association senior title


Regents' Glen Country Club's Chris Mescan is the 2017 York County Amateur Golf Association senior champion.

Mescan captured the championship for local amateurs 50 and over on Sunday at Briarwood East Golf Club.

Mescan, Briarwood's Bill Brenner and Honey Run's Bob Ruby each finished with 1-under-par 71s, but Mescan took the title on the third playoff hole.

Briarwood's Chance Miller finished fourth with a 72, while Cool Creek's Randy Grim was fifth with a 73.

Royal Manchester's Matt Smith took the YCAGA Super Senior crown for golfers 60 and over with a 68. He won by three shots over Honey Run's Dale Bievenour and four shots over Briarwood's Clair Stough Sr.

The Senior Division players competed from the championship tees, while the Super Senior Division played from forward tees.

The next YCAGA event is the organization's premier tournament, the York County Amateur, set for Saturday, July 15, and Sunday, July 16, at Quail Valley Golf Club near Littlestown in Adams County.
