NEWVILLE, Pa. – The York College men's cross country team placed 10th out of 52 teams on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships at Big Spring High School.
The Spartans finished the 8K course with a total time of 2:14:44, while Haverford captured the overall team title with a total time of 2:09:04.
York placed six of its seven runners in the top-100 in the field of 371 participants.
Sophomore Grant Dell (Westminster, Md. / North Carroll) once again led the Spartans as he placed 38th with a time of 26:25.6, improving on his finish of 84th at last yea's regional meet.
Sophomore Alex Smith (Ephrata, Pa. / Ephrata) performed well in his first appearance at the regional meet as he placed 42nd with a time of 26:30.2.
Sophomore Andy MacGibbon (Goffstown, N.H. / Goffstown) jumped up from 91st at last year's meet to 67th this year with a time of 26:57.9.
Freshman Matthew Zubrycki (Mt. Laurel, N.J. / Lenape) produced a solid performance in his first appearance at the regional level with 93rd place finish and right behind him Christopher Sander (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) placed 96th with a time of 27:25.6
Junior Matt Hayes (Drexel Hill, Pa. / Cardinal O'Hara) battled through a lost shoe at a point in the race to rally back and crack the top-100 with a 98th place finish at a time of 27:27.9
Sophomore Ryan Aug (Monmouth Junction, N.J. / South Brunswick) rounded out the Spartan lineup as he crossed the finish line in 106th with a time of 27:34.6.
