YORK COLLEGE: Spartans fall in women's soccer, field hockey on Tuesday

Visiting St. Mary's defeated the York College women's soccer team in overtime on Tuesday on a goal by Gillian Sawyer in the 93rd minute, giving the Seahawks the 2-1 decision.

Chelsea McDowell tied the game at 1-1 in the 51st minute for York. It was the first goal of the season for McDowell. Kate Lutte made six saves in goal for the Spartans. The loss drops York to 4-5 in Capital Athletic Conference play and 6-10 overall.

Spartans downed in field hockey: York College spotted Juniata a two-goal cushion to open the game and couldn't make up the deficit, dropping a 4-2 non-league field hockey decision on Tuesday.

Holly Martin and Autumn Mallory scored York's goals. The road loss brought York's record to 9-8 on the year. The Eagles improved to 10-5.
