YORK COLLEGE: Men's golf team takes tournament championship
The York College golf team captured its first tournament championship of the year on Tuesday when the Spartans won the Alvernia Fall Invitational at Ledge Rock Golf Club in Mohnton.
The Spartans won the nine-team tournament with a team score of 331. They beat second-place Lebanon Valley by 11 strokes.
The Spartans were led by freshman Dan Doran who had a 6-over-par 78. Doran placed fifth in the tournament, five strokes back of tournament champion Brett Fernandes of Alvernia.
Junior Alex Colton was the next Spartan at 81, finishing tied for eighth in the 47-player field. Sophomore Michael Fedak tied for 12th at 84, while senior Austin Parker finished tied for 20th at 88.
York earns men's soccer win: Greg Bechard scored a second-half goal off an assist from Ryan Ockford to give the York College men's soccer team a 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference victory over visiting Frostburg State on Tuesday.
York improved to 6-6-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the CAC. Frostburg fell to 8-4-1 and 2-2-1.
Charlie Johnson got the shutout in goal, making two saves.
