Top four seeds ousted in George Barton Match Play junior golf event
The top four seeds didn't fare too well on Tuesday during the first two rounds of the George Barton Match Play Championship at Springwood Golf Course.
No. 9 seed Connor Bacha, No. 5 seed Andrew Davis, No. 7 seed Luke Hoffnagle and No. 11 seed Trevor Sweitzer advanced to Wednesday morning's semifinals back at Springwood. None of the top four seeds survived.
Bacha will meet Davis in one semifinal, while Hoffnagle will battle Sweitzer in the other semifinal.
The semifinal winners will meet Wednesday afternoon for the overall championship.
Bacha upset No. 8 seed Logan Snyder in the first round on Tuesday, 2 up, and then pulled off an even bigger upset in the quarterfinals, downing No. 1 seed Axel Hartman with surprising ease, 6&5.
Davis downed No. 12 seed Matthew Bricker in the first round, 5&4, and then beat No. 4 seed Justin Gruver in the quarterfinals, 3&2.
Hoffnagle beat No. 10 seed James Davis in the first round, 6&4, and then surprised No. 2 seed Kevin Crumbling in the quarterfinals, 1 up.
Sweitzer downed No. 6 seed Zach Dixon in the first round, 6&5, before ousting No. 14 seed Michael Gruver in the quarterfinals, 3&2. Michael Gruver had upset No. 3 seed Andrew Forjan in the first round, 4&3.
The girls' division championship is also set to be determined on Wednesday.

Ace at Out Door: Bill Thompson had a hole in one on Tuesday at Out Door Country Club.
Thompson used a 9-iron to ace the 130-yard 17th hole. It was witnessed by Rod Gross and Denny Dobbie.
