Glenville's Peck returns to Pa. to race in Camping World Truck Series stop at Pocono
Glenville native Todd Peck is returning to race in his home state.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is making its stop at Pocono Raceway. Peck will be among the 32 drivers battling to capture the checkered flag in the Pocono Mountains 150. The race will mark Peck's third start behind the wheel of his No. 40 Silverado at the 2.5-mile tri-oval and his 15th start in Truck Series competition.
"There's nothing like racing in front of your friends and family," Peck said. "When you know that the grandstands are full of people cheering you on, that's really special. There aren't many teams that can call Pocono their home track, so our team takes a lot of pride in preparing and making sure that we put on a good show for everyone that comes out to see us."
In addition to his hometown friends and family attending the race, Peck will have another special group at the track. Peck, who was diagnosed with arthritis as a child, has partnered with the Arthritis Foundation to remind everyone who has been diagnosed with the condition that they can still live an active and fast-paced lifestyle. His team will be hosting children who have arthritis, along with their families, as their guests for the race. The team has invited dozens of families affected by arthritis since making his first Truck Series start in 2011.
"We've hosted lots of families at the track and it is one of the most rewarding elements of our race program," said Keith Wolfe, the general manager, Peck Motorsports. "The kids have such a good time. It really brings smiles to their faces. We hope they have a great time, but also hope that they leave inspired and encouraged that arthritis doesn't have to slow them down."
Gearing up for the Pocono Mountains 150, Peck will make two pit stops along the way. On July 23-25, Peck will attend the national juvenile arthritis conference in Orlando, Florida. Peck is slated as a guest speaker and will lead a pinewood derby challenge for the 1,100 kids, teens and young adults attending.
Partnering with Peck Motorsports for the Pocono race is OSS Health. Based in York, OSS Health provides orthopaedic care. The organization's logo will be featured on Peck's Chevrolet at Pocono Raceway. Peck will visit OSS Health on Tuesday, July 28, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. to meet with the doctors, staff, patients and area race fans. He'll have his race truck and hauler on display and will sign autographs and take pictures with everyone attending.
Peck Motorsports is the only professional NASCAR race team headquartered in central Pennsylvania. Founded in 1988, Peck Motorsports is a family operation. Brothers Mike Peck and Tom Peck operated the team with success throughout the 1990s. Today the team is still led by Mike Peck, but this time with son Todd Peck behind the wheel.
Peck is 46th on the latest Camping World Truck Series season-long standings. He has raced in one Truck Series race this season, finishing 27th in the season-opening race in February in Daytona, Florida.
