YORK COUNTY OLD-TIMERS BASEBALL
The York County Old-Timers Baseball League is accepting registrations for the upcoming season. The season will run 10 consective Sundays beginning on Sunday, Sept. 13, and run through Sunday, Nov. 8. Games will be played at York Township Park Field (McWilliams) and Shryock Field in Spry. To join, players must be or will turn 38 during the current year and mostly inactive in the Central or Susquehanna leagues, or be 40. Teams will be formed through a draft that will take place on Thursday, Aug. 27. The cost is $125 and includes a hat, T-shirt and paid umpires. The maximum number of players accepted is 260. All players registered by Monday, Aug. 24 are guaranteed a roster spot. Coaching positions and scorekeeper positions may also be available. The YCOBL is also accepting donations for its annual scholarship award to children and grandchildren of the league's past and present players. Four students each year are awarded $500 scholarships. The York and Bob Hoffman/Dover YMCAs are now accepting applications for youth sport instructor positions. The positions are part-time and Saturday morning hours. The York YMCA is also accepting volunteer "coach" applications for a boys' running and character-building program called "Stride." FOOT GOLF TOURNAMENT
The first Foot Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Hickory Heights Golf Course. The tournament will be a two-person team tournament with a scramble format. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the winners, along with special contests. The tournament will have a 8 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $20 per player and will be limited to 40 teams.
