SUSQUEHANNA LEAGUE: Red Lion knocks Jacobus out of first place


Red Lion held off first-place Jacobus to earn a 9-8 Susquehanna League baseball victory on Monday.

Red Lion led 9-6 entering the top of the seventh, but Jacobus rallied to score two runs. Red Lion's Tyler Taylor, however, threw out Kerry Clark at home plate for what would have been the tying run to secure the victory.

Alex Zelger led the home team, going 4-for-4, including a homer, with three RBIs. He also threw six innings to record the win. Also for Red Lion, Cody Sommerville went 2-for-3, Taylor went 2-for-4 and Mark Shoff went 2-for-3, including a homer, with two RBIs. For Jacobus, Austin Calaman went 2-for-3, including a homer, with four RBI's; Anthony Ferrell went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI; Eric Hamberger went 3-for-3, including a double; Brian Crimmel went 2-for-4 with an RBI; Mike Austin went 2-for-4; and Riley Hamberger and Kerry Clark each doubled.

The loss knocked Jacobus (19-4) out of first place in Susquehanna League. East Prospect (18-3) now leads the league by percentage points. Red Lion improved to 9-14.


York Township 3, Windsor 2: At Windsor, Nicholas Schuler drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the sixth for the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run. Also for Township, Tyler Page went 2-for-4, including a two-run homer in the third; Jon Snyder went 2-for-3; and James Striebig threw a complete game, striking out 11 and walking four. For Windsor, Shawn Wilson went 3-for-3, Matt Robinson went 2-for-3, Austin Taylor went 2-for-4 and Ian Hartman doubled. Chris Schroll threw a complete game, striking out eight and walking four, while Tyler Myers hit a solo homer.

Conrads 7, Felton 2: At Conrads, Carter Krick led the home team to the victory by throwing a complete game, striking out 11 and walking two. Brandon Miller had a two-run double and three walks, while Joe Yourgal hit a two-run homer. For Felton, Seth Hamill had an RBI double, while Devin Gohn threw a complete game, striking out seven and walking five.
