Five years ago, my family suffered the traumatic experience of losing a loved one by homicide. While there is nothing that will bring back my sister, Annemarie Fitzpatrick, we are reassured knowing the York County District Attorney’s Office in partnership with the Pennsylvania State Police have relentlessly dedicated themselves to the pursuit of truth and justice. It is with the highest recommendation that I write this letter in support of two members of the DA’s office as they seek county office.

Dave Sunday, candidate for district attorney, worked tirelessly as one of the prosecutors in my sister’s first degree murder case resulting in a guilty conviction. He listened to my family’s concerns, answered our many questions, and maintained transparency throughout the judicial process while conveying compassion and empathy. Having interacted with Dave for several years, I observed first-hand that he is not only a skilled attorney, but also a caring and compassionate person. Dave is not a politician, but a prosecutor who cares about the victims and their families and who is deeply committed to seeing that justice is done.

My family again experienced emotional pain and upheaval when the trial judge vacated the murder conviction two years ago. We were comforted by the fact the appellate process was led by another highly capable and dedicated prosecutor, Tim Barker, candidate for judge. It was evident when meeting with Tim to discuss the case and watching him in court, he is an expert in the law. Tim is also passionate and committed to applying the law so that justice is served as he did in Annemarie’s case, which resulted in the reinstatement of the guilty conviction.

Both Dave and Tim have earned my trust in their abilities and commitment to seeking justice and making our community a safe place to live.
