LETTER: Slenker for a better York County

York Dispatch

I have known Neil Slenker since he began his practice of law in 1996. I have enjoyed the opportunity to practice law with Neil in a multi-attorney law partnership during that entire time, so I believe I know Neil pretty well. Neil obviously has all of the necessary qualities to be a good judge. He is knowledgeable in the law. He has demonstrated his diligence and work ethic in representing and counseling his clients at a high level to the best of his ability.

But beyond that Neil views his practice of law as a calling, not simply a means to make a living, because the law is too important to leave it to those who may not share that vision. Neil knows that the law forms the foundation of our society, the means for all people to resolve disputes, obtain justice and obtain a fair chance to improve their lives.

For the same reasons, Neil views his candidacy for the position of judge of the York County Common Pleas Court as a calling. Neil understands that beyond the qualities of legal knowledge, character, integrity, honesty and hard work necessary to be a good judge, perhaps the most important qualities are heart and humility — a knowledge that we are all part of the York community and working together we can make York County a better place.

Vote for Neil Slenker on May 19.
