LETTER: Town hall on health planned in York
In my letter that The York Dispatch printed on June 13, I wrote that the Pennsylvania Insurance Department has the authority to adjust rates the private insurance companies participating in the Affordable Care Act are asking for 2018. I also wrote that we, members of the York Healthcare Rights Committee of Put People First! PA, and our statewide organization, were able to convince the PID to hold town hall meetings in the nine insurance rating areas in Pennsylvania so that more citizens would have access to tell their stories in or near their local communities before the PID commissioner makes a decision about rate increases.
York, Adams, Lancaster and Berks counties comprise Insurance Rating Area 7. The PID recently announced that a town hall for that district will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Martin Library, 159 E. Market St., York.
We urge you to come to this town hall, especially if you receive insurance through the ACA and would like to tell your story about how difficult it is to pay premiums, deductibles and co-pays and still be able to make rent and utilities payments, and other expenses on a limited income. Bring your friends. Here is your chance to be heard. Seize the moment.
