LETTER: I’ve got your 6, Joe
As a Vietnam Era Navy veteran, I never gave the war much thought — just did my job on an aircraft carrier and couldn’t wait to settle down in York County after six years as an enlisted man. That was 1973. Rarely was anyone interested in my sea stories and no one “watched my back” with respect for my service once I became a civilian.
Times have changed though and the public is more willing to recognize the active duty military members and veterans for their service. The new slang — I’ve got your 6 — means we’re watching your back for any support you need.
Today, there’s another Navy veteran, Joe Sestak, who is running for the U.S. Senate and needs the support of Democrat voters in the Pennsylvania primary, April 26. He’s no political hack and has the best interests of Pennsylvanians in mind. He’s the most sincere and honest candidate I’ve ever met. Voters may disagree, or even dispute some of his positions on social issues, but there’s no disputing his 31 years of honorable military service — the kind of military experience so desperately needed today with so few veterans in the U.S. Senate. Unlike me, Joe Sestak has given a lot of thought to the war chaos we’re in and is the best person running for U.S. Senate to make the right choices to defend and protect this country.
When it comes time to vote on April 26, send a clear message — Joe, I’ve got your 6.
