LETTER: Perry too extreme for York County
Congressman Scott Perry again showed that he is too conservative for York County and insensitive to the needs of seniors by voting against the bipartisan budget deal.
If Congressman Perry had gotten his way, some 30 percent of 54 million seniors would have seen Part B premiums jump 52 percent in 2016, from $104.90 per month to $159.30. The budget deal also prevented a looming cut in Social Security disability payments. It re-allocates payroll taxes among Social Security program trust funds to ensure solvency of the disability insurance program.
Governing often involves compromise. Congressman Perry has shown that his ideological commitment to the so-called "Freedom Caucus" has blinded him to the need to compromise his extreme beliefs and do his job as a congressman.
