LETTER: Keep Hellam Twp. on right track
Hellam Township voters, join me in casting your votes on Nov. 3 for Mike Martin, Stephen Wolf and Bill Sprenkle for Hellam Township supervisors. They are the best-qualified to continue the Smart Growth principles that protect our township's rural character with balanced growth that has resulted in no tax increase for the past 12 years.
Unlike their opponents, Smart Growth supervisors support the fight to require the corporate giant, Perdue, to install appropriate technology to reduce the toxic hexane emissions Perdue wants to dump into our already polluted air from their proposed soybean processing plant in Conoy Township. Hexane is a toxic, lung-damaging air pollutant that is especially harmful to children and the elderly. Martin, Wolf and Sprenkle understand the importance of this battle to the health of our residents. Unlike their opponents, these candidates have not accepted campaign contributions from Perdue lobbyists.
I am greatly concerned that unless Martin, Wolf and Sprenkle win in this election, the excellent record Smart Growth has established over the past decade will come to an abrupt end.
Vote for Martin, Wolf and Sprenkle on Nov. 3. Keep our township on the proven Smart Growth track of balanced growth, fiscal responsibility and a safe environment.
