A northbound lane on a portion of Interstate 83 in York County will close Monday night for roadwork, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

On lane between Exit 22, North George Street, and Locust Lane will be restricted to a single lane from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday so contractors can mill and pave a deteriorated section of the roadway.

The closure was initially scheduled for Sunday, but was postponed to Monday.

The planned construction work Sunday night was postponed due to inclement weather, according to a PennDOT news release.

The construction is part of a $12 million project to relocate the existing on-ramp from North George Street to northbound I-83 and construct a sound wall along the ramp, the release stated.

Work on the project is expected to be completed by October 2022.
