Congressional candidate to speak in York
Democratic congressional candidate Josh Burkholder will speak at an upcoming York County Federation of Democratic Women meeting.
The Harrisburg man will square off against incumbent Republican Rep. Scott Perry, of Dillsburg, in the Nov. 8 election. Burkholder received 2,213 write-in votes during the primary, allowing him to appear as a Democrat on the November ballot.
He is slated to be the guest speaker at the federation's meeting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Meadow Hill Restaurant, 2935 E. Prospect Road, in Windsor Township. Meetings are open to the public, according to a federation news release.
Burkholder's platform includes improving education, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, overturning the Citizens United decision that deregulated campaign finance, increasing investments in alternative energy and promoting LBGT equality, the release states.
He's a former photojournalist for CBS 21 in Harrisburg but currently works as a graphic artist and designer for Hollywood Casino in Grantville. Burkholder graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a degree in media communication technology.
