Authorities: School bus driver killed in multivehicle crash

RAYNE, Pa. – Authorities say a multivehicle crash involving a school bus in western Pennsylvania has left the bus driver dead.

No children were aboard the bus when the accident occurred around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday on Route 85 in Rayne.

Authorities say a westbound vehicle was stopped to make a left a turn when a pickup truck rear-ended it. The pickup then went into the eastbound lane and struck the bus almost head-on.

The bus driver, 34-year-old Sarah Slovinsky of Beyer, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities say the drivers of the other vehicles escaped serious injury, but they’re names were not released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed so far.
