State police: Trooper shoots, kills man in street encounter

GIRARD, Pa. – Pennsylvania state police say a trooper shot and killed man during a brief street encounter.
Troopers had responded to a suspicious person call in Girard around 5 p.m. Thursday when they encountered the 36-year-old man. A trooper shot the man a short time later and he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities have not released the man’s name or provided further details about the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation.
