Fire destroys most of Catholic school in Pennsylvania
MORTON, Pa. – A fast-moving fire has destroyed a Catholic school in Pennsylvania.
Authorities say the fire at Our Lady of Angels Regional Catholic School in Morton broke out around 11 p.m. Wednesday, sending flames and thick smoke billowing out of the building. Dozens of firefighters then battled the blaze for about two hours before it was brought under control.
No injuries were reported. But several nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
School officials say roughly 400 students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade attend the school, which was built in the 1950s.
Morton is about 18 miles southwest of Philadelphia.
