Police say the remains were found shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Bartram Village neighborhood.

WPVI-TV reports that housing authority police made the discovery after neighbors complained of an odor coming from a trash container.

Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker said it appeared to be the partially decomposed body of a woman. Police said it’s possible that the suitcase was left for Monday’s trash pickup.
