Police: 14-year-old hit by car while video chatting on phone

ABINGTON, Pa. — Police say a 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl was injured when she walked into the path of a car while video chatting with a friend on her phone.

Investigators say the teen was hit near Abington High School around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers found her unresponsive in the street. She was taken to a Philadelphia hospital for treatment. Her current condition is not known.
Abington Township Police Chief John Livingood tells KYW-TV the girl’s friend could see the phone fly into the air and hear screaming through the app.

Police say the driver immediately stopped to help. He is not facing charges.
