HIV-positive Carlisle man to be sentenced for raping child

The Associated Press

CARLISLE — An HIV-positive Pennsylvania man who admitted he raped a 6-year-old boy at his home while another man recorded it faces up to 60 years in prison.

A former swim coach has agreed to a tentative plea deal for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a swimmer.

Ira Task is due to be sentenced in Cumberland County Monday.

Police say the 62-year-old arranged the encounter over the internet with a 19-year-old North Middleton Township man, who is also charged with raping the child and live-streaming the abuse.

Task, of Harrisburg, pleaded guilty in March to charges including rape of a child and related offenses.

Cumberland County prosecutors say Task wore no protection and knew he had been HIV positive since 1994.

Police identified Task based on a gold ring he was wearing in the video, as well as other physical characteristics.
