Police: Man refuses help after crashing pickup truck, dies
WEST FINLEY, Pa. — State police in western Pennsylvania say said a man who crashed his truck and refused help from good Samaritans died before emergency responders arrived.
State police say in a report that the man was traveling on a West Finley road around 7 p.m. Saturday when his pickup truck became stuck on a very steep shoulder.
Two passers-by told police when they tried to help him, the man became “belligerent” and threatened to fight them if they called police, so they left.
Apparently, the man — identified as 61-year-old Larry Layton of West Alexander — managed to free his vehicle but it slid down a steep embankment and struck several trees.
Police say Layton, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was killed before troopers arrived at the scene.
