York drivers will have an opportunity to learn defensive driving at the end of this month.

Northern York County Regional Police announced Tuesday that they will be sponsoring the National Safety Council's Defensive Driving program for eligible drivers on July 30.

The course will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the police department, 1445 E. Canal Road, Dover, and participants need to bring a bagged lunch with them. The deadline to register is July 27, and the class size is limited to 30 people. It will be filled on a "first come, first served" basis.

Drivers must be at least 16 years old and have a Pennsylvania driver's license.

The National Safety Council offers a defensive-driving program in partnership with local police departments.

Those interested may register by calling the department at (717) 292-3647 or by filling out a registration form at the station between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
