Trout eggs planted in Eagle Scout incubator
Jonathan McGee, 17 of Stewartstown, prepares the streamside incubator that he built as his Eagle Scout project for more than 10,000 eyed brown trout eggs, Friday Nov. 13, 2015. McGee, a scout with Troop 3 in Winterstown, built the incubator and installed it on a feeder creek in Bonham-Wake-Robin Sanctuary in Airville in early September. The incubator is one of several installed on small creeks feeding Muddy Creek, and provides a safe space for trout eggs to hatch and begin life, with the idea that trout will end up as almost-wild adults in Muddy Creek. 100,000 brown trout eggs were placed in the incubators by the Muddy Creek Trout Unlimited Chapter 575 under the guidance of project coordinator Ron Heuston, in partnership with the PA Fish and Boat Commission.
