PHILADELPHIA — Pennsylvania lawmakers have agreed to extend last call for some Philadelphia venues selling alcohol during the Democratic National Convention.

The convention is expected to draw tens of thousands of convention-goers and protesters to the city when it begins July 25.

Last call in Philadelphia is 2 a.m.

The state Legislature on Wednesday amended Pennsylvania’s Liquor Code to grant temporary permits. The permits allow currently licensed and unlicensed venues hosting events related to the convention to sell alcohol until 4 a.m. Permits run through the final day of the four-day convention.

Pennsylvania offered liquor waivers during the 2000 Republican National Convention. Cleveland has similarly granted waiver requests for the Republican National Convention that begins next week.
