Coroner identifies men who died in two York County crashes

The York County Coroner's Office has identified two men who died in crashes Saturday night.

Dewey Wedderian, 67, of the 7300 block of Hickory Road in East Hopewell Township, was pronounced dead at 10:58 p.m. Saturday after a single-vehicle crash on Piedmont Road in Hopewell Township, the coroner's office said in a news release.

He reportedly lost control of his car at 9:56 p.m., causing it to flip and crash into an embankment in a field, a news release states. The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma, with the manner accidental.

There were no passengers or other vehicles involved, the release states. There will be no autopsy, but a routine toxicology test will be done, according to the release.

Samuel Sparks, 45, of the first block of Lake View Road in Peach Bottom Township, was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Freysville Road in Windsor Township, the coroner's office said in a news release.

Sparks wasn't wearing his helmet when he crashed his motorcycle into a tree at 10:03 p.m. Saturday, according to the coroner.

He exited the roadway and traveled into a yard, where he hit a tree and was thrown from the motorcycle, the release states.

The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma, with the manner accidental. There will be no autopsy, but a routine toxicology test will be done, according to the release.
