A southern York County man died Saturday night when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a tree in Windsor Township, officials said.

Samuel Sparks, 45, of the first block of Lake View Road in Peach Bottom Township, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:05 p.m. crash, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

York Area Regional Police said Sparks was riding southbound in the 1300 block of Freysville Road and was in the process of going into a slight left-hand curve in the road when he lost control.

The motorcycle left the road and crashed into a large tree, throwing Sparks from the bike, the coroner's office said.

He wasn't wearing a helmet, according to the coroner's office.

Sparks was with a group of motorcycle riders when the crash happened, and they called 911, police said.

Police said it doesn't appear speed was a factor in the crash.

No autopsy is planned, according to the coroner's office, which has ruled the cause of Sparks' death as multiple blunt-force injuries and the manner of his death accidental.
